Christie Koschke
General Manager

christie koschkeChristie “Zinanti” Koschke was born and raised in Pueblo, CO where sports have always been a part of her life. Koschke had a stellar prep career at Pueblo West High School where she helped lead the Cyclones to back-to-back state softball championships in 2004 and 2005. She was named the Colorado H.S. All Colorado Pitcher and Player of the year, as well as the Colorado State 4A MVP - Denver Post & Rocky Mountain News in 2004 and 2005.

Koschke boasts perhaps the most glowing softball resume of any Pueblo-native women's softball player and coach. She enjoyed a stellar collegiate career as a pitcher at BYU from 2007-10, leading the Cougars to four straight NCAA Tournament appearances, including one trip to the Super Regionals where she battled a powerhouse University of Arizona team. She finished her career with 63 wins, second-most in BYU history, earning a slew of honors in the process, including First Team All-Mountain West Conference, MWC Pitcher of the Year in 2009, and First Team All- Region distinctions.

After graduating from BYU in 2011 with her Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health, Koschke became the assistant coach at New Mexico Highlands University. She helped coach a greatly improved pitching staff that turned in the most wins in program history. While at Highlands, Koschke received her Master’s degree in Human Performance and Sport with emphasis in Sports Administration.

Koschke returned home in 2012, becoming the fifth Head Coach in school history for Colorado State University Pueblo Softball. As Head coach, Koschke became the second winningest coach in school history and amassed one All-American Honorable Mention, one first team All-Region, two Academic All-Americans, two academic All-Regions, one RMAC Player of the Year, one RMAC Freshman of the Year, 26 All-RMAC picks, two RMAC Gold Gloves, and 64 RMAC All-Academic recipients.

Koschke and her husband Josh, CSU Pueblo Director of Golf, reside in Pueblo and have one son, Nolan and a daughter, Palmer.

Larry Romero
Assistant General Manager

larry romeroLarry was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado and has been a proud resident of Pueblo throughout his life. The two constants in Larry’s life have always been his family and athletics. His professional experience ranges from construction management to instructing welding at Pueblo Community College, South High School, and Central High School. Larry’s vast knowledge in construction, welding, and project management will allow him to lead the Runyon team and ensure that Runyon’s Complex is not only well maintained, but is continuously improved.

Welding has had a great impact on Larry’s life because he has been able to help hundreds of students earn their certification and has placed them with employers throughout the United States. However, Larry’s true passion has always been coaching. He started coaching when we was 20-years old and has coached boy’s fast pitch, football, baseball, basketball, and girl’s fast pitch. Larry has coached and served as the Softball Director for the Azteca program for the past 6 years and has been the Head Softball Coach at Central for the past 17 years. Since Larry started coaching girl’s fast pitch he has sent over 60 athletes to play college softball on academic and athletic scholarships.

Larry Romero has been a pillar in Pueblo’s community; the structure and discipline that he instilled in his students and athletes has led them to be successful and productive members of society. He has taught his mentees to appreciate the Pueblo community and to give back if the opportunity is afforded. The humility, integrity, and passion that Larry leads with will ensure the Runyon team, the athletes, and overall community are all welcomed and appreciated at Runyon Sports Complex.
