Scholarship Recipients | Jim DiIorio Memorial Award

Welcome to the Jim DiIoro Tournament

Welcome to the 25th year of the Jim Diiorio Memorial Youth Baseball Tournament. In 2001, coaches, players, and friends came together on this weekend to honor Jim Diiorio: a great husband, father, community member, and person who loved baseball.

Even though he had many demands on his time, Jim volunteered to coach youth baseball year after year. The players who were a part of the Hit & Run teams that Jim coached learned team skills, fundamentals, and life lessons. For Jim, it was not about winning or losing; it was always about the kids. The countless hours that Jim spent
with his players influenced them positively and unselfishly. He valued respect, hard work, and commitment from each member of his team, and set the expectation that they would represent Pueblo with poise and character.

Throughout the last 25 years, this tournament has strived to honor Jim's commitment to giving back. On Friday, two recent high school graduates will receive scholarships to pursue their higher education. They will join the list of over 100 Jim Diiorio Scholarship winners who have been chosen for exhibiting the ideals Jim lived and coached by. Additionally, the Jim Diiorio Memorial Award will be presented to a community member who has demonstrated exceptional dedication and service to the youth of our community.

As we look back on the 25th anniversary of this tournament, we hope this weekend provides an opportunity for those individuals who played for, coached with, and knew Jim to relive memories of their time together. We would also like to thank all the individuals who participated this weekend. Your participation not only provides an opportunity for great baseball and athletic camaraderie, but it is a chance for all involved to demonstrate the ideals Jim Diiorio stood for: integrity, hard work, and determination. Hopefully, you will leave with your own special memories.

Lastly, the DiIorio family and tournament committee would like to thank all the tournament volunteers. Without your help, none of this would be possible. Let's PLAY BALL!
